Diet Teddy Teddy Bear

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we are transported back to the heartwarming harvest festival at Rawthorpe Junior School in 1986. The theme of the event was "Food and diets from the counties of the world" which aimed to educate children about different eating habits across various cultures while raising funds for a noble cause. Two enthusiastic fourth-year pupils, Beverley Marren and Rachel Matthewman, took charge of organizing a raffle with enticing prizes such as a cuddly Teddy bear, pencil cases, and felt pens. The proceeds from this exciting activity were dedicated entirely to supporting the Save the Children Fund. The image captures not only the joyous spirit of celebration but also highlights how education can be seamlessly integrated into community events. As children eagerly participate in this fundraising drive, their smiles radiate pure happiness and innocence. This snapshot serves as a beautiful reminder that even during simpler times like the 1980s, young minds were already being nurtured towards global awareness and empathy. It showcases how schools played an essential role in shaping compassionate individuals who understood their responsibility towards helping others in need. As we admire this photograph today, let us reflect on our own contributions towards creating a better world for future generations - just like these remarkable students did over three decades ago.
