EDITORS COMMENTS
In tune with the world. . . that's these dancers from Fartown High School. The print captures a mesmerizing display titled 'Our Environment' presented by these talented students as part of a One World Week Evening. Held at King Street Mission in Huddersfield, this event showcased the immense creativity and passion of Fartown pupils. Pictured from left to right are Salina Bashir, Stacey Mitchell, Lareen Shepherd, Lyndsay Hirst, Zoe Townend, and Tanya Bates – each embodying grace and harmony through their synchronized movements. Their performance aimed to raise awareness about our precious environment and its preservation. Sponsoring this remarkable event was the Huddersfield and District Council of Churches, emphasizing the importance of unity among different faiths for a common cause. Collaborating with CHOL Theatre based at Thornton Lodge and Huddersfield Quakers added depth to the performance. This snapshot transports us back to October 15th, 1991 – an era when children were actively engaged in advocating for environmental consciousness. These young girls not only showcased their talent but also became ambassadors for change through their artistry. As we admire this photograph today, let it serve as a reminder that even decades ago, youngsters were taking meaningful steps towards protecting our planet. Their dedication continues to inspire generations after them.
