This heartwarming print captures the incredible efforts of two green-fingered youngsters, Paul and Lisa Askham, in Beaumont Park. In support of the Examiner Bodyscanner Appeal, these young philanthropists decided to plant a sunflower seed last April and seek sponsorship for its growth. The community rallied behind them as they watered and nurtured their tiny seedling with love and care. Now standing tall at an impressive height of 4ft 4inches, this magnificent sunflower has not only bloomed beautifully but has also raised an astounding £20.55 for the scanner appeal. It is truly a testament to the dedication and determination of these remarkable children. Five-year-old Lisa, a pupil at Crosland Moor Infants School, along with her little brother Paul, aged three, have shown us that even at such tender ages, we can make a significant impact on our community through simple acts of kindness. This photograph transports us back to July 17th, 1987 when this inspiring story unfolded. It reminds us of the power of unity and compassion within our society. As we gaze upon this vibrant sunflower reaching towards the sky, let it serve as a symbol of hope and resilience during challenging times.
