PICTURE 10 of the 14 SEQUENCE. The Box Camera - a series of pictures demonstrating how to use it.
Picture shows Putting the prints through a wringer. It wrings out any extra water.
A box camera is a simple type of camera, the most common form being a cardboard or plastic box with a lens in one end and film at the other. They were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The lenses are often single element designs meniscus fixed focus lens, or in better quality box cameras a doublet lens with minimal (if any) possible adjustments to the aperture or shutter speeds. Because of the inability to adjust focus, the small lens aperture and the low sensitivity of the sensitive materials available, these cameras work best in brightly lit day-lit scenes when the subject is within the hyperfocal distance for the lens and of subjects that move little during the exposure. Eventually, box cameras with photographic flash, shutter and aperture adjustment were introduced, allowing indoor photos.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage photo print, labeled as "PICTURE 10 of the 14 SEQUENCE" captures a moment in history when box cameras were widely used. The image showcases a step-by-step demonstration on how to use this simple yet revolutionary device. In this particular frame, we witness the process of putting prints through a wringer to remove any excess water. Box cameras, typically made from cardboard or plastic, gained immense popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Equipped with a lens at one end and film at the other, these cameras allowed individuals to capture precious moments with ease. However, due to their fixed focus lenses and limited aperture adjustments, they performed best in well-lit environments where subjects remained relatively still. As technology advanced, box cameras evolved too. Later versions incorporated features such as flash capabilities and adjustable shutters and apertures for indoor photography. This particular photograph was taken on March 1st, 1933 (not by the company) by Mirrorpix. This snapshot from Memory Lane Prints takes us back in time when capturing memories required patience and skillful manipulation of equipment like box cameras. It serves as a reminder of how far photography has come while honoring the simplicity that once defined it.
