Inhabits mountain slopes with few trees and rugged terrain. Gregarious. Sexes usually separate in summer. Rams join ewes and lambs in fall. Rutting season occurs in November and December. Males will often butt heads in order to establish dominance hierarchy for access to breeding females. Occurs in western North American from Baja California to western Canada
