EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness a historic moment as the Duke of Cambridge takes the salute for his first Colonel's Review. The image captures HRH Prince William fulfilling his role as Colonel of the Irish Guards Regiment, an esteemed position previously held by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. On the 10th of June 2017, amidst a sunny and hot climate, Prince William rode onto Horse Guards Parade to assess the readiness of the Irish Guards for their upcoming Trooping of the Colour ceremony on the Queen's Birthday Parade. As he entered this iconic parade square, over one thousand soldiers from the Household Division performed their ceremonial duties with precision and pride. The photograph showcases a multitude of elements that add to its grandeur: weapons glinting in sunlight, vibrant flags fluttering in anticipation, and crowds lining The Mall to catch a glimpse of royalty. The foot guards stand tall in their distinctive bearskin hats while executing flawless guard changes. Amidst all this splendor stands Prince William himself – regal and composed – wearing his military uniform complete with tunic, boots adorned with spurs, and Sam Browne belt. This occasion marks an important milestone for both Prince William personally and for the Irish Guards Regiment as they prepare to honor Her Majesty on her special day. It is through such ceremonial events that tradition is upheld and royal connections are strengthened within our armed forces.
