This hand-colored copperplate engraving, created by Andreas Hoffer after an illustration by Christian Leinberger, showcases a fascinating assemblage of exotic and intriguing specimens from the natural world. The centerpiece of this composition is a majestic Lobster, Homarus gammarus, its vibrant, armored shell and menacing claws a testament to its status as a prized delicacy. To its right, a pair of Shrimp, species 2, with their slender bodies and multiple legs, add a sense of grace and agility to the scene. In the lower left corner, the sinuous form of a Giant Centipede, Scolopendra gigantea, is depicted, its elongated body adorned with numerous legs and menacing pincers. Nearby, an Unknown Insect, Pinnoter, adds a touch of mystery with its intricate exoskeleton and peculiar antennae. The final two specimens, a Tapeworm, Taenia species, and another Unknown Insect, are rendered in striking detail.
