Boeing Model 83 NX7133
Boeing Model 83 NX7133 (msn 1039, aka XF4B-1 number 1, A8129), first flown on 25 June 1928. The first of two XF4B-1s (Model 83 and Model 89), which remained Boeing-owned, without military markings or civil registrations on first flight and during Navy testing. Although they were not formally Navy property, they were referred to as XF4B-1s administratively. Both private venture prototypes were returned to the factory and were re-worked to production Model 99 F-4B-1s. They were subsequently purchased by the Navy as additional items, with serials A8128 (ex Model 89) and A8129 (ex Model 83). Date: circa 1928
