EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the iconic members of The Sex Pistols - Sid Vicious, Paul Cook, Steve Jones, and their manager Malcolm McLaren - alongside the enigmatic Johnny Rotten. Taken on March 10th, 1977 in London, this image marks a significant moment in punk rock history. After their infamous and controversial TV performance that led to being "fired" by EMI Records, The Sex Pistols are making a triumphant return with a new worldwide recording deal with A&M Records. Their upcoming release, "God Save The Queen" is set to hit the shelves at the end of this month; however, neither an advance copy nor its lyrics will be released beforehand. On this eventful day captured in the photograph, The Sex Pistols held a mod contract signing outside Buckingham Palace followed by an uneventful Press Conference. However dull it may have been for those present, it was not without mischief as the group attempted to disrupt proceedings by playfully aiming a bottle of Scotch at hard-working photographers. Bill Rowntree's snapshot from Memory Lane Prints immortalizes this pivotal moment when The Sex Pistols defied convention and challenged societal norms through their rebellious music. It serves as a reminder of their enduring legacy within punk culture and their ability to provoke both love and hate among fans worldwide.
