Enid Blyton went along to The Scala Theatre to choose Londons youngest leading man

Enid Blyton went along to The Scala Theatre to choose Londons youngest leading man. She watched scores of boys sing a song and recite a piece of dialogue. They were trying for the lead part of " Noddy" for the Christmas run at the theatre of " Noddy in Toyland". The little lad who got the job was Carlo Cura from the Italia Conte School.
***Note to Editors*** the young lady in this picture is not Id d. However, in theory she has been chosen to play the part of Silky in the December 1962 production. According to other sources on the internet, a lady called
Elaine Millar played that part. So you can deduce the lady in this picture is Elaine Millar. But, approach with caution incase there was a last minute casting switch and the Elaine Millar who starred in the play, is not the same person who passed this auction in this picture a few weeks earlier***

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from 1962, we see the renowned children's author Enid Blyton immersing herself in the process of selecting London's youngest leading man for the beloved character Noddy. The Scala Theatre serves as the backdrop for this momentous occasion, where scores of talented boys gather to showcase their singing and acting abilities. As Enid Blyton attentively observes each audition, she undoubtedly feels a sense of excitement and anticipation. Amongst all the aspiring young actors, one little lad stands out and captures both Enid Blyton's attention and heart. Carlo Cura from the prestigious Italia Conte School is ultimately chosen to portray Noddy during the Christmas run at The Scala Theatre in "Noddy in Toyland". His talent shines through as he embodies the spirit of this cherished character. It is worth noting that while this photo features a young lady who was initially believed to have been cast as Silky in the same production, further research suggests that Elaine Millar actually played that role. Therefore, caution should be exercised when identifying her. Perhaps there was a last-minute casting switch or confusion surrounding these two individuals with similar names. Taken on October 25th by Eyles, this picture transports us back to an era filled with enchantment and wonderment as Enid Blyton handpicks London's newest star for a magical theatrical experience.
