EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage poster, dating back to the 1930s, showcases the Harwich / Zeebrugge Train Ferry service offered by the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER). The artwork, skillfully created by Frank Henry Mason, transports us to an era when travel was a luxurious adventure. The poster depicts a scene where railway carriages are seamlessly loaded onto a cross-Channel ferry, bridging the gap between Harwich in Essex and Zeebrugge in Belgium. Mason's expertise as both an artist and someone with firsthand experience at sea is evident in his attention to detail and ability to capture the essence of marine life. During this period of history, train ferry services revolutionized transportation across Europe. This innovative method allowed passengers and goods to be transported effortlessly from one country to another without any disruption or inconvenience.
