Page of illustrations from an 18th century magazine. The item labelled II is a design of a weighbridge. The side view (right) has been rotated to appear upright. This was a novel design in which the object to be weighed need only be sat on the bridge section (as today), at the time it was more common to sling the load under a weighing arm. At centre (marked IV and V) is a design of hygometer, or humidity measuring device. At left, labelled III, is an unusual fish described as being green in colour and referred to as a sea adder. Items VI and VII are described as a fish called an eye sucker. These illustrations appeared in the Gentlemans Magazine in 1748
