Brands Hatch, Kent: Racing driver Jackie Stewart, of Scotland, isn t really blowing

Brands Hatch, Kent: Racing driver Jackie Stewart, of Scotland, isn t really blowing his own trumpet - as you can see - but Jazz bandleader Chris Barbers trombone.
Jackie Stewart reckons he can go faster than any other Grand Prix drivers in the wet, and chris claims that it always rains when he turns up at Brand Hatch Racing Circuit. So on practice day Chris obliged Jackie by turning up, complete with instrument.
Well it did rain a little, but practice was finally abandoned because of thick fog. It didn t rain yesterday
But Jackie still won the Race of Champions in his Matra-Ford Formula One Car. He also recently won South African Grand Prix, first in the World Champion Series.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, racing driver Jackie Stewart and jazz bandleader Chris Barber share a lighthearted moment at Brands Hatch Racing Circuit in Kent. Despite the misleading caption, Stewart isn't actually blowing his own trumpet but rather holding onto Barber's trombone. Stewart, hailing from Scotland, boasts of being the fastest Grand Prix driver in wet conditions while Barber humorously claims that rain always accompanies his visits to Brand Hatch. To test their theories, Barber arrived on practice day with his instrument in tow as requested by Stewart. Although there was some rainfall during the day, thick fog eventually forced the cancellation of practice sessions. However, adverse weather conditions didn't hinder Stewart's success as he emerged victorious in the Race of Champions driving his Matra-Ford Formula One Car. Adding to his recent triumphs, he also secured first place at the South African Grand Prix within the World Champion Series. This intriguing snapshot captured on March 17th, 1969 showcases not only these two personalities but also highlights their playful camaraderie amidst unpredictable circumstances. The photograph serves as a reminder that even in moments of disappointment or unexpected turns of events like foggy race days and abandoned practices, determination and talent can still lead to ultimate triumphs on the track for individuals like Jackie Stewart.
