This vintage photograph captures the iconic moment when Kenny Hibbitt, a true legend of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, lifted the FA Cup aloft in triumph. Taken during the 1980 FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, Hibbitt's jubilant expression and outstretched arms are a testament to the team's hard-fought victory over Arsenal. Born in Wolverhampton in 1955, Hibbitt joined the Wolves as a teenager and quickly established himself as a key player in the midfield. His skill, vision, and determination on the pitch earned him the nickname "The Hibbo Express". Throughout the 1970s, 80s, and early 90s, Hibbitt was a mainstay in the Wolves team, making over 500 appearances and scoring 75 goals. The 1979-80 season was a particularly memorable one for Hibbitt and Wolves fans. After a thrilling run in the FA Cup, the team reached the final for the first time in 21 years. Facing off against Arsenal, who were the reigning league champions, the odds seemed stacked against Wolves. But Hibbitt and his teammates refused to be intimidated. In the final match, Hibbitt played a pivotal role in the team's success. He set up the first goal with a brilliant cross and scored the second himself, securing Wolves' place in the history books.
