Rufogriseus Mouse Mat Collection

Rufogriseus is a genus of macropodidae mammals, commonly known as rock wallabies, and are native to Australia and New Guinea, and are found in rocky habitats such as cliffs, gorges, and caves. They have a stocky body with short legs and a long tail for balance when hopping on rocks. Their fur is usually grey or brown with white patches on the face and chest. They feed mainly on grasses but also eat leaves, flowers, fruits, insects, spiders and even small reptiles. Rock wallabies are social animals that live in groups of up to 20 individuals led by an alpha male. Breeding occurs during the wet season when food is plentiful; females give birth to one young after a gestation period of 30 days. Rock wallabies are threatened by habitat destruction due to human activities such as mining or grazing livestock; they have also been hunted for their meat or fur in some areas. Conservation efforts include protecting their habitats from further degradation as well as reintroducing them into suitable areas where possible.
