In the heart of the action, Thomas Vermaelen of Arsenal stands triumphantly with the ball at his feet, having just scored the team's fourth goal. The Belgian defender's powerful header from a corner kick proved to be the deciding factor in the match, securing all three points for the Gunners. In the background, you can see former Arsenal striker Kanu, representing Portsmouth, looking on in disappointment as his team's hopes of a comeback fade away. The experienced Nigerian forward, who had previously won multiple titles with the North London club, was unable to prevent his side from suffering a defeat in their opening fixture of the 2009-10 season.
