Gustavo Koenigswald, a man of many talents and passions, was captivated by the beauty of Brazil in the late 19th century. Inspired by the country's rich landscapes and vibrant culture, he embarked on a journey to capture its essence through art. One of his favorite pieces is "Matta Virgem" (Virgin Forest), painted by Axel Frick in 1895. This masterpiece depicts the untouched wilderness with its lush greenery and exotic wildlife, showcasing Koenigswald's fascination with nature's wonders. Another remarkable artwork that caught Gustavo's attention was Francisco Henszler's "Estrada de Rodagem do Alto Parana" (Highway of Upper Paraná). This painting portrays a scenic road winding through picturesque hills, reflecting Koenigswald's appreciation for Brazil's diverse geography. In Rudolf Friedrich Fra and Wilhelm Gaensly’s collaborative piece titled "Largo S. Bento, " Gustavo found himself immersed in the bustling streets of São Paulo.
