This is an hour-old donkey going by Shankss pony. And very happy to be doing the donkey work is Ron Brewer, of Southall. Ron, who breeds donkeys, carried the baby (a he-haw not a she-haw) to a warm hut. Mum, called Sparky, went along, too - reckoning that her dinky donkey wanted a pick-me-up of another sort.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This heartwarming photo captures the pure joy and dedication of Ron Brewer, a donkey breeder from Southall. In this snapshot taken in September 1961, we see an hour-old baby donkey being carried by Ron himself, affectionately known as Shankss pony. The little he-haw named Sparky is accompanied by her proud mother as they make their way to a cozy hut. Ron's beaming smile reflects his genuine happiness in doing what some may consider 'donkey work. ' His passion for these gentle creatures shines through as he lovingly tends to the needs of his newest addition. It's evident that this elderly pensioner finds immense fulfillment in nurturing and caring for these animals. The humorous twist lies in Sparky's mother, who joins them on their journey, seemingly aware that her dinky donkey offspring requires not only physical warmth but also an emotional boost. This delightful scene showcases the unique bond between humans and animals. Captured by Mirrorpix during the vibrant 1960s era, this photograph encapsulates timeless themes of friendship, companionship, and the simple joys found in nature. It serves as a reminder that even mundane tasks can bring immense satisfaction when performed with love and purpose.
