EDITORS COMMENTS
In a groundbreaking moment that blurred the lines between science fiction and reality, the world's first flying saucer, or as its creators prefer to call it, Skyship, gracefully ascended into the sky. This remarkable feat was achieved with utmost silence and precision, marking a significant milestone in British aviation history. The brilliant mind behind this technological marvel is none other than Mr. John West and his esteemed firm, John West Design Associates of Epsom, Surrey. For over two years, these visionary designers poured their expertise and dedication into bringing this 30-foot saucer to life. Finally taking flight near Bedford, they etched their names in the annals of innovation. The awe-inspiring event unfolded within the historic confines of RAF Cardington's Royal Aircraft establishment hangar – once home to the ill-fated R101 Airship. The year was April 1975 when this radio-controlled wonder defied gravity without any human presence on board. As it soared through the skies above Bedfordshire countryside, spectators marveled at its sleek design and futuristic allure. This photograph captures not only an iconic moment but also represents hope for endless possibilities in transportation technology. Let us cherish this snapshot from Memory Lane Prints as a testament to human ingenuity pushing boundaries beyond imagination – where dreams take flight amidst whispers of extraterrestrial encounters and limitless potential for progress in aviation history.
