Actor Jonathan Linsley - who plays Crusher in BBC TVs Last of the Summer Wine series - got the fun under way at a Holme Valley charity fete. He opened the event at The Cricketers Arms, Deanhouse, before completing five laps of the lawn mower race track - contestants are seen making their way round - to raise cash for the mammoth Telephon effort, Guests included the new Miss Holmfirth, Jackie Ellis, and other attractions were swings - seen being enjoyed by William Hallas, six, and his three-year-old sister, Jennifer - hot dog stands and good as new stalls. The days fun, which brought in over £ 300, was organised by landlord Mr Stewart Whittle and fund-raiser Mr Barry Lee. 29th May 1988
