EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the picturesque Radway Tower and its charming thatched cottage, nestled atop Edgehill in Warwickshire during June 1930. Standing proudly on the B4086 road, this tower was constructed in the 1700s as a faithful replica of Guys Tower at Warwick Castle. Its purpose? To commemorate the historic moment when King Charles I raised his standard before the legendary battle between Royalists and Parliamentarians at Edgehill in 1642. Today, this magnificent tower has transformed into a beloved public house known as The Castle. It stands as a testament to both history and community, offering visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in centuries-old tales while enjoying fine food and drink within its walls. The image showcases Radway Tower majestically overlooking its surroundings, exuding an air of timeless elegance against a backdrop of lush greenery. The thatched cottage adjacent to it adds a touch of rustic charm to this idyllic scene. As we gaze upon this photograph, we are transported back in time – imagining ourselves strolling through these historic grounds or perhaps witnessing King Charles's pivotal moment firsthand. It serves as a reminder that even amidst modernity, echoes of our past continue to shape our present-day experiences.
