People taking part in the annual festival of Alajuelita just outside San Jose, Costa Rica, Central America. It is held in honour of the Black Christ of Esquipulas, and is celebrated every 15 January with an ox cart parade and a religious procession, followed by a mass at the top of a mountain. A morpho peleides butterfly lays its eggs, while two ants surround one, in Butterfly Garden in La Guacima, northwest of San Jose, May 14, 2012. According to the owner Joris Brinkerhoff, who is from the U.S and has more than 29-years of experience dedicated to the export of butterfly cocoons, more than 80, 000 cocoons of butterflies, of 70 different species, are exported every month from Costa Rica to Europe, Asia, Canada, Mexico and the United States, with prices of the cocoons ranging from $3 to $10 each.
