Dr. Lettsoms House, Grove Hill, (c1878). The house of physician and philanthropist John Coakley Lettsom (1744-1815) in the village of Camberwell, (now part of south east London), was built in 1780. His garden contained fruit trees, a kitchen garden, hothouse, shrubs from America, classical statues, a small farm with pigs and hens, an aviary and a menagerie. It attracted many visitors.
