D. , this crypt was discovered by Russian art critic and scholar V. V. Stasov in 1872. The Cimmerian Bosporus, known as the Strait of Kerch today, holds immense historical significance as one of the major centers for Greek colonization along the Northern coast of the Black Sea. The paintings found within this ancient crypt exhibit a fascinating combination of two distinct styles: an earlier technique called inlay and a later floral design.
