This haunting image captures the aftermath of a tragic and shocking event in the annals of Italian history: the assassination of Mr. and Mrs. Emiliani and Mr. Lazzoneschi in the 1890s. The trio had recently retired from the Free-Masons, an influential social group known for its secretive nature and complex hierarchies.
