Avro Manchester IA of No. 207 Squadron: Unloved and Unwanted, the Transformation into the Famed Lancaster The Avro Manchester IA, registration number N22-21, was a once-forgotten relic of the Royal Air Force's (RAF) wartime past, serving with No. 207 Squadron during the darkest days of World War II. The Avro Manchester, a variant of the Avro Anson trainer, was initially conceived as a twin-engine bomber to replace the obsolete Armstrong Whitworth Whitley.
