The print is taken from Pietro Andrea Mattioli's "Discorsi di P.A. Matthioli ne i sei libri della Materia Medicinale di Pedacio Dioscoride Anazarbeo," published in Venice in 1568 by Vincenzo Valgrisi. Gooseberries are native to Europe, Asia, and North America.
