Piper J-3 Cub G-AFFJ with the Everell single-blade propeller
Piper J-3 Cub G-AFFJ (msn 1165), seen with the Everell patented single-blade automatic variable- pitch propeller. The single propeller blade was balanced by a counterweight and was free to pivot, over a small angle, along the axis of the blade. Centrifugal and aerodynamic pitch moments automatically set the pitch of the propeller. G-AFFJ was first registered on 6 April 1938 and sold in Germany in January 1956. Date: circa 1939
