EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures the SNCAC NC.702 Martinet F-BAOO (msn 121) during a flight test in the late 1940s or early 1950s. The SNCAC NC.700 family of aircraft was developed by Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Centre (SNCAC) in France as a response to the Reichsluftfahrt Ministerium (RLM)'s dispersal of aircraft manufacture to occupied territories. The RLM, in an effort to maintain production of less important aircraft types, outsourced the manufacture of the Seibel Si 204 to both Aero in occupied Czecho-Slovakia and SNCAC in France. SNCAC then developed their own version of the Si 204, which became the NC.700 family. The NC.702 Martinet was a single-engine, low-wing monoplane designed for advanced training and light attack roles. Its sleek design and advanced features made it a popular choice for various air forces around the world. Despite its origins in wartime dispersal, the NC.702 Martinet proved to be a successful and influential aircraft in the post-war aviation industry.
