Christopher had only 12 lengths to go at the official finishing time. Pool staff at Huddersfields Cambridge Road Baths allowed him to continue, and he finished just 12 minutes later, completing the four miles in 4 hours 42 mins. Christophers seven-year old brother, Philip and sister Melanie, eight, swam the distance in about 3 hours 40 mins.
