Based on a design by Christopher Wren (1632-1723) the bridge was built between 1709 and 1712. Poster artwork by Gwen Raverat (1885-1957). Cambridge-born Raverat, a granddaughter of Charles Darwin and member of the Bloomsbury circle, was a major figure in the 20th century British revival of wood engraving
