Alfred Martin, owner of Tregavethan Farm, a Womens Land Army training centre, sits to the left of the picture with a bowl partially hiding his face, and his wife sits with her back to the hay rick on the extreme right of the picture. Although some faces are partially obscured, we believe these brave women to be Ms. Dorothy Phyllis Martin (partly hidden by a man's cap), Ms. Brown (standing towards the rear), Ms. Northey, Ms. Crowther, Ms. Nora Lock, and Ms. Vera Dunfrane. Seated on the left is Alfred Martin, owner of Tregavethan Farm and also serving as a training center for the Women's Land Army.
