Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) eating piece of raw meat, Namibia, Africa
The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), also known as the hunting leopard, is a big cat that occurs mainly in eastern and southern Africa and a few parts of Iran. The cheetah is characterised by a slender body, deep chest, spotted coat, a small rounded head, black tear-like streaks on the face, long thin legs and a long spotted tail. Its lightly built, slender form is in sharp contrast with the robust build of the other big cats. The cheetah reaches nearly 70 to 90 cm (28 to 35 in) at the shoulder, and weighs 21-72 kg (46-159 lb). Though taller than the leopard, it is notably smaller than the lion. Basically yellowish tan or rufous to greyish white, the coat is uniformly covered with nearly 2, 000 solid black spots

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the essence of a Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) in its natural habitat, as it indulges in a piece of raw meat. Taken in Namibia, Africa, this image showcases the beauty and power of this magnificent big cat. The cheetah is renowned for its slender body, deep chest, and distinctive spotted coat. Its small rounded head is adorned with black tear-like streaks on the face, adding to its unique charm. With long thin legs and a spotted tail that stretches behind it gracefully, the cheetah's lightly built form stands out among other big cats. Standing at an impressive height of 70 to 90 cm (28 to 35 inches) at the shoulder and weighing between 21-72 kg (46-159 lb), the cheetah may be smaller than its counterparts like lions or leopards but possesses incredible speed and agility. Its yellowish tan or rufous to greyish white fur is covered with approximately 2,000 solid black spots. Sadly, these remarkable creatures are endangered due to various factors such as habitat loss and poaching. This image serves as a reminder of their vulnerability while showcasing their undeniable beauty. The photographer Daniel Osterkamp has skillfully captured this moment in time when the cheetah's primal instincts take over during mealtime. Let this print transport you to the grasslands of Africa where nature unfolds before your eyes – witness firsthand the grace and power embodied by this fast feline predator known as the hunting leopard or simply put -the cheetah
