April 2006

The British Airways London Eye, or simply the Eye for short, is a giant ferris wheel on the banks of the Thames constructed for Londons Millennium celebrations. Also known as the Millennium Wheel it is the largest ferris wheel in the world at 135m high. Designed by architects David Marks, Julia Barfield, Malcolm Cook, Mark Sparrowhawk, Steven Chilton, and Nic Bailey, the wheel carries 32 sealed and air conditioned passenger capsules attached to its external circumference. It rotates at a rate of 0.26 metres per second (about 0.9 km/h or 0.6 mph) so that one revolution takes about 30 minutes to complete

EDITORS COMMENTS
"April 2006: Behold the majestic British Airways London Eye, a colossal ferris wheel standing proudly on the banks of the Thames. This iconic landmark was built to commemorate London's Millennium celebrations and has since become a symbol of the city's grandeur. Soaring at an astonishing height of 135 meters, it holds the title for being the tallest ferris wheel in existence. Designed by a team of visionary architects including David Marks, Julia Barfield, Malcolm Cook, Mark Sparrowhawk, Steven Chilton, and Nic Bailey; this architectural marvel features 32 sealed and air-conditioned passenger capsules that are attached to its outer circumference. As it gracefully rotates at a gentle pace of 0.26 meters per second (approximately 0.9 km/h or 0.6 mph), each revolution takes around half an hour to complete. The London Eye is not just any ordinary ferris wheel; it is an illuminated masterpiece that captivates both locals and tourists alike with its enchanting glow after sunset. Its mesmerizing blue lights create a magical ambiance against the night sky, making it one of Britain's most sought-after tourist attractions. Standing tall in England's vibrant capital city, this world-renowned structure attracts visitors from all corners of the globe who come to witness its brilliance firsthand.
