This stunning chromolithograph, published in 1892, showcases the incredible beauty and diversity of various butterflies from the Nymphalidae family. The print features five different species, each depicted in three stages of their life cycle: caterpillar, pupa, and butterfly. The first butterfly is the Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae), with its vibrant orange wings adorned with black markings.
