EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage print captures the awe-inspiring moment when Giovanni Luder Fioro ascended into the sky aboard an aereostatico balloon, directed by Mr. Gaetano Cioni. The event took place on July 16th, 1795, at precisely 12 o'clock noon in Piazza del Carmine, Florence. As the crowd watched in wonderment, Fioro soared through the air before gracefully descending in Pieve Remole, a village located miles away from Florence towards Pontassieve. The image itself is an exquisite example of engraving artistry from the 19th century. Its intricate details and illustrative technique transport us back to a time steeped in history and culture. This engraved picture evokes nostalgia for a bygone era when such daring feats were met with both trepidation and admiration. With its retro-styled aesthetic and aged appearance, this artwork exudes charm and romanticism that can only be found in traditional historic art pieces. It serves as a testament to human curiosity and ingenuity during the early nineteenth century. As we gaze upon this print from Liszt Collection's archives, we are reminded of how far we have come since those pioneering days of aviation exploration. It invites us to appreciate our modern advancements while cherishing the rich heritage left behind by those who dared to dream beyond what seemed possible.
