This photograph showcases the British Aerospace-Boeing Harrier T.12 ZH661 (msn TX009) of 20 (R) Squadron (formerly 233 Operational Conversion Unit), as it approaches the hover in the early 2000s. The Harrier, a ground-breaking short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) aircraft, was a joint venture between the British company British Aerospace and the American giant Boeing. The Harrier T.12 was a two-seat trainer version of the Harrier GR.9, which was the primary attack and ground-attack variant of the Harrier fleet.
