The illustration was engraved by Corsi, with drawings by Jean Gabriel Pretreatment and direction by the renowned French botanical illustrator Pierre Jean-Francois Turpin. The image features two types of fish: the cod, or Baccala (Gadus morhua), and the whiting, or Merlango comune (Merlangius merlangus).
