EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the facade of the Woodman Public House in Bexleyheath, Greater London, during the 1960s. The image, taken by an unknown photographer, presents a nostalgic glimpse into the past, showcasing the classic design and charm of a traditional British pub. The Woodman, which was operated by Hoare and Company Limited, can be seen in all its glory with its distinctive red brick exterior, ornate woodwork, and large, inviting sign. The pub, located at DA6 7QQ, had a rich history, having been in operation since at least 1938, as detailed on the back of the print. However, by July 2018, the Woodman had been demolished, making way for new residential development. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of a bygone era, when local pubs were the heart of their communities, offering a warm welcome and a place to gather with friends and neighbors.
