(Front row, seated) Grand Princess Ksenia (or Xenia - Alexander IIIs daughter), Maria Pavlovna (wife of Grand Prince Vladimir), her daughter Elena Vladimirovna, Grand Princess Alexandra Iosifovna (widow of Grand Prince Konstantin Nikoaevich), Tsaritsa Maria Feodorovna, Alexander III, Grand Princes Mikhail Nikoaevich (the Tsars youngest uncle) and Pavel Alexandrovich (the Tsars youngest brother). In this evocative photograph taken at the military settlement of Krasnoe Selo in 1892, three generations of the Russian royal family gather for the summer maneuvers. Seated in the front row, Tsar Alexander III is flanked by his wife, Tsaritsa Maria Feodorovna, and their eldest daughter, Grand Princess Ksenia (or Xenia). Also present are Maria Pavlovna, the wife of Grand Prince Vladimir, with her daughter Elena Vladimirovna, and Grand Princess Alexandra Iosifovna, the widow of Grand Prince Konstantin Nikolaevich. Behind the seated royals, we find an assortment of grand dukes, dukes, and other members of the imperial family. Among them are Dukes Carl-Michael and Georg of Mecklenburg Strelitz, grandsons of Tsar Paul, and Grand Prince Konstantin Konstantinovich, with his sister, Princess Olga, the Queen of the Hellenes. Tsesarevich Nicholas (later Nicholas II) stands among the group, as do Grand Princes Vladimir Alexandrovich and Dmitri Konstantinovich, in a white hat.
