This stunning portrait, believed to have been created around 1560, captures the Sultan in the prime of his reign. Suleiman I was the tenth and longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, a period marked by military conquests, cultural achievements, and the consolidation of the Ottoman Empire as a major world power. Suleiman I is depicted here wearing the traditional Ottoman Sultan's turban, adorned with precious stones and gold thread.
