The Zeebrugge Raid, also known as the First Battle of Zeebrugge, was a daring amphibious operation carried out by the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines to prevent the German Navy from using the port as a base for raids against Allied shipping in the English Channel. The raid took place on the night of April 23, 1918, and resulted in the destruction of several German destroyers and the disruption of their naval operations.
