EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness the extraordinary moment when crane driver Ernie Thornton from Wembley finds himself in an unexpected role - that of a grand piano maestro. Little did he ever imagine that his skills would extend beyond operating cranes to playing a magnificent 1933 Collard and Collard Player Grand Piano. Perched 107 feet high, Ernie had masterfully lifted this rare gem, one of only three in existence, to the penthouse flat of Mr. Walter Buchanan. A television electronic engineer by profession, Mr. Buchanan had chosen this lofty abode on Kingston Hill's Lakeside for the sole purpose of indulging in his passion for music without disturbing his neighbors. As fate would have it, with the removal men as his audience, Ernie found himself seated at the keyboard of this majestic instrument. The year was April 1971 when this remarkable scene unfolded before our eyes. This photograph captures not just a unique convergence of talents but also showcases the power of dreams and unforeseen opportunities that life presents us with. It serves as a reminder that sometimes our paths may take unexpected turns leading us to places we never imagined possible. Preserved through time and now immortalized in Memory Lane Prints' collection, let this image inspire you to embrace every twist and turn along your own journey while remaining open to new possibilities waiting just around the corner.
