Experts from Gardeners Question Time came to Kenilworth this week - answering an 11-year-old invitation. Nancy Felthouse wrote to Radio 4 all those years ago, suggesting the green-fingered panel might visit the flower arranging club. And on Wednesday presenter Clay Jones was at the old Abbey Hall at Kenilworth School, but regular listeners will have to wait until the broadcast of May 19 to hear Kenilworth mentioned. Then they will find out what Dr Stefan Buczacki suggested planting beneath a rotary washing line, and how Mrs Felthouse was advised to trim her 20 foot high laurel hedge. The expert team of Fred Downham, Sue Phillips and Dr Buczacki- who travelled from his home in Stratford to record his 400th programme - were the guests of the Kenilworth Flower Club.
Our photograph shows Delma Gardner, chairman of Kenilworth Flower Club (centre), with radio team Stefan Buczacki (left), Clay Jones, Fred Downham and Sue Phillips.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print captured by Derrick Warren, we are transported back to the year 1991 when the esteemed experts from Gardeners Question Time made a long-awaited visit to Kenilworth. It all began with an innocent letter penned by an imaginative 11-year-old girl named Nancy Felthouse, who suggested that the green-fingered panel pay a visit to her local flower arranging club. Fast forward several years later, and Nancy's dream became a reality as presenter Clay Jones arrived at the historic Abbey Hall in Kenilworth School. Although avid listeners of Radio 4 will have to exercise patience until May 19th for their beloved town to be mentioned on air, they can anticipate some invaluable gardening advice. Dr Stefan Buczacki shared his wisdom on what plants would thrive beneath a rotary washing line while also providing guidance on how Mrs Felthouse should trim her towering laurel hedge standing at an impressive height of twenty feet. Accompanying Dr Buczacki were fellow experts Fred Downham and Sue Phillips, along with radio team member Clay Jones. The photograph captures Delma Gardner, chairman of the Kenilworth Flower Club, standing proudly amidst this distinguished group of horticultural enthusiasts. This timeless image serves as a reminder of the impact one young girl's invitation had on her community and showcases the power of passion and persistence in bringing people together through their love for gardening.
