The poster, skillfully designed by Herbert Alker Tripp, transports us to a picturesque beach along the Cornish coast. As we gaze at the artwork, we are immediately drawn into a scene of tranquility and natural beauty. The sandy shoreline stretches out before us, framed by majestic cliffs and rugged rocks that stand as sentinels against the crashing waves. It is a place where time seems to slow down and worries melt away. Tripp's talent shines through in his ability to capture not only the physical landscape but also the essence of a carefree seaside getaway. We can almost feel the warmth of sun-kissed skin and hear laughter carried on gentle sea breezes. This idyllic setting beckons us to escape from our daily routines and immerse ourselves in this coastal paradise. It is fascinating to learn that Tripp was not only an accomplished artist but also had a distinguished career with New Scotland Yard. His passion for painting blossomed during his spare time and continued even after retirement. His artistic prowess extended beyond GWR posters; he also created designs for SR (Southern Railway).
