EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph, two footballing legends, Alex Hleb from Arsenal and David Dunn from Blackburn Rovers, lock eyes during the FA Cup 5th Round Replay at Ewood Park on February 28,2007. The tension in the air is palpable as Hleb prepares to take a corner for Arsenal, with Dunn and his Blackburn teammates poised to defend. Hleb, a Belarusian international, had joined Arsenal in 2005 from Barcelona for a reported fee of £14 million. Known for his creativity, technical ability, and versatility, he quickly became a fan favorite at the Emirates Stadium. Dunn, on the other hand, was a local hero at Blackburn, having risen through the ranks of the club's youth academy and making his professional debut in 1997. The FA Cup was always a special competition for both teams, and this encounter was no exception. The first match at the Emirates Stadium had ended in a goalless draw, setting the stage for this replay at Ewood Park. The pressure was on, and the stakes were high. As Hleb swings the ball into the box, Dunn leaps to meet it, but the Arsenal defender, William Gallas, is there to head the ball away. The crowd roars, and the tension between the two teams is evident in their expressions. In the end, it was Arsenal who emerged victorious, with a solitary goal from Edu scoring the difference. This photograph captures a moment in time, a fleeting instant of intensity and focus from two talented footballers locked in a battle for victory. It serves as a reminder of the passion and dedication that drives the beautiful game, and the memories that remain long after the final whistle has blown.
