EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph, two iconic figures of Arsenal Football Club, Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell, share a jubilant moment at the end of the FA Cup Final against Southampton on May 17,2003, at The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The image captures the pure elation and relief that comes with securing a hard-fought victory in a high-stakes match. The previous season had seen Arsenal finish runners-up in the Premier League, just one point behind Manchester United, and losing in the Champions League final to Barcelona. The FA Cup presented an opportunity to salvage a trophy for the Gunners, and they were determined to make it count. Southampton, under the management of Gordon Strachan, put up a valiant effort, but Arsenal's experience and determination shone through. The decisive goal came from Robert Pires in the second half, and the team held on for a tense and nerve-wracking finish, with Campbell and Cole playing crucial roles in the defense. As the final whistle blew, the relief and joy on the players' faces was palpable. Cole, with his arms raised in triumph, and Campbell, beaming with pride, encapsulate the spirit of the team and the importance of this victory. The FA Cup was Arsenal's last major trophy before their Invincible season in 2003-04, and this image serves as a reminder of the team's resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
