. In this 19th-century engraving, we witness the chaotic aftermath of French politician Jules Auguste Armand Marie, Prince of Polignac's ill-fated decision. In July 1830, Polignac attempted to quell liberal opposition by enacting controversial ordinances. Little did he know that his actions would set off a storm of fury among the people. As depicted in vivid colors, a large crowd pursues Polignac's carriage through the streets of Paris. Stones fly through the air as angry citizens vent their frustration at his oppressive policies.
