The village dates back to the Saxon period and was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. Chobham Common is an area of heathland that covers over 1,400 acres and is home to many rare species of plants and animals. The common also includes several ponds which are important for wildlife conservation. Chobham has two churches: St Lawrence's Church which dates back to the 12th century, and St Andrew's Church which was built in 1869.
