EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the exquisite beauty of "The Loggia of Romulus and Remus" by Gentile da Fabriano. Located in the Palazzo Trinci in Foligno, Umbria, Italy, this masterpiece depicts the lives of the legendary founders of Rome. The Trinci family sought to reconnect with their mythical origins through this stunning artwork. Gentile da Fabriano, renowned for his mastery of international Gothic style in Italy, led a team of talented artists including Jacopo Bellini, Paolo Nocchi, Francesco Giambono from Bologna, and Domenico da Padovas Battista to bring this vision to life between 1411 and 1412. Every detail within the loggia is meticulously crafted with precision and finesse. The intricate frescoes transport viewers into a world where myth intertwines with reality. From Romulus and Remus being nurtured by a she-wolf to their eventual rise as leaders shaping Rome's destiny; each scene unfolds before our eyes like pages from an ancient epic. The composition exudes grandeur as arches frame each narrative panel while delicate floral motifs adorn the surrounding walls. Colors burst forth vibrantly against a backdrop that evokes both opulence and serenity. As we gaze upon this remarkable print captured by Ghigo Roli's lens, we are reminded not only of the artistic genius behind it but also its historical significance.
